The Lady Captain’s Inauguration 9-hole competition preceded the Lady Captain’s Inauguration Ceremony at Co Armagh Golf Club on Saturday 1 January 2022.
On an unseasonably mild New Year’s Day 48 ladies took part in the first competition of the new year and new golfing season, played over holes 1-7, 17 and 18.
Lady Captain Karen conducted her first prize-giving of the new year congratulating the prize winners:
1st Maggie McKee 18 pts
2nd Frances Davidson 17 pts
3rd Barbara Hamilton 16 pts (beating Ellen Brady, Paula McCrory and Barbara Gartland on the countback).
Accepting her prize, Maggie McKee expressed her delight at having won the competition, explaining that she had been extremely focussed on her golf in no small part due to the competitive nature of her four-ball.
She concluded by extending good wishes to Lady Captain Karen for her 2022.

Lady Captain Mrs Anne McDonald presents a cheque for £1,332 to a representative from Community First Responders for Armagh and Tyrone. The monies were raised by Anne on her Lady Captain’s Day in June.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Day, the Lady Captain Anne McDonald encouraged the ladies to play in pink on Thursday 21st October. The ladies duly obliged and the prizes were awarded not on scores but originality of outfits as evidenced by photos taken on the day.

The last ladies competition of the season took place on Thursday 14th October. Overcast skies and scattered heavy showers threatened to put paid to the competition for another week, however 39 ladies participated in the 18-hole event and a further 19 played in the 9-hole competition. Lady Captain Anne McDonald expressed her appreciation of the sterling work on competition results done by Mary Black, Joy Steenson and Denise Murphy

The last Ladies’ 18 hole competition of the year took place on a day of overcast skies and frequent showers. 44 ladies ventured out in the frequently dismal conditions with a further 12 ladies making do with a 9 hole round.

Thursday 30th September 2021.
The annual McAnerney’s Open Stableford competition eventually took place after a weather postponement from the original fixture. Overcast skies and scattered heavy showers threatened to put paid to the competition for another week, however 53 ladies, including 6 visitors participated in the 18 hole event which raises funds annually for a variety of Cancer charities.
