A thrilling, if nerve-wracking, 5.5-4.5 win over Ballyliffin Golf Club has ensured County Armagh's continued participation in the All-Ireland Four-Ball Trophy.
In the first leg played in Armagh on Sunday 2 April, Tim Teahan's charges comprised a mixture of stalwarts from previous campaigns and a few fresh faces, and this proved the perfect blend as the home side turned in a quite tremendous performance.

While the traditional par 3 curtain-raiser to the Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia, had to be cancelled amid thunderstorms and tornado threats, there were no such concerns locally as County Armagh Golf Club hosted its very own version of the event on Friday 7 April.
With the course amended accordingly in order to serve up nine testing short holes, players were treated to glorious sunshine as they went in search of pars, birdies and, ultimately, prizes in the competition sponsored by Iron Designs Armagh.
Lee Stewart, doing his most convincing Sergio Garcia impersonation, completed the challenge in just 27 strokes. This was the lowest gross score of the day and gave Lee top spot in the 0-7 handicap section.
Alongside prize winners Anne and Enda O'Reilly are Lady Captain, Gail Steed, and Philip Devlin of Iron Designs Armagh.

As the 2017 season at County Armagh Golf Club starts to gather momentum, Michael Calvert has got his hands on the first piece of silverware to be awarded this year.
A virtuoso performance of 45 points secured glory for Calvert in the CP McNabb Trophy, which was competed for on the weekend of 1-2 April.
Michael refused to get bogged down by the wet conditions underfoot, instead excelling from the off as he posted 23 points on the outward nine. Most impressive here was the gutsy response to a no-score at the 5th — namely two birdies and two pars in the next four holes.
Michael Calvert receives the CP McNabb trophy from Vice Captain, Colm Shannon. Also pictured (L-R) are prize winners David Grimley, Stephen Catterall and Ciaran McCreesh.

The heavy rain of the past few weeks threatened to cause a postponement of the Mary Peters Stableford qualifier in County Armagh Golf Club. However, 57 ladies took part in the competition on Thursday last and, despite the heavy conditions underfoot, Valerie Gordon returned an excellent score of 33 points, to beat Geraldine Rafferty into second place, her back nine score being sufficient to edge out Lily McMullan who was third.
The prizegiving was handled by Past Captain Margaret Marjoram in the absence of Lady Captain Gail who was attending the ABC council Sports Forum awards in Craigavon Civic Centre.

Competitive golf, by its very nature, is more often than not an individual and somewhat selfish pursuit. However, on the weekend of 25-26 March, players at County Armagh Golf Club were given an opportunity to showcase their collaborative qualities.
In a four-ball better-ball competition held on the Saturday, John George Willis and Paul Doyle combined to take top spot with a magnificent winning score of 49 points. Six-handicapper Doyle provided the flair with birdies at the 1st, 3rd, 13th and 14th holes, while Willis, a more than able assistant, offered a steady hand at the prizewinning tiller with several timely contributions.
Second place was filled by Michael Cullen and Tom Fox, who carded 48 points. Highlights of this deadly duo's day included Tom's two at the 7th and Michael's spectacular birdie at the hardest hole on the course, the infamous 16th.
