AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Our Club Captain in 2018, Colm Shannon, began this tradition and both myself and incoming Lady Captain, Lily McMullen, have agreed that it would be a great way to transmit Club News across all of the sections within the club.

We have repackaged it as a joint enterprise and hope to use it alongside other forms of social media to enhance our communication of information to not only club members but also the wider golfing community.

We aim to post regularly through the BRS system to members and also using the Club Website, Facebook and Twitter pages: The Club Website link is: https://www.golfarmagh.co.uk/

The Club Facebook Page can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/countyarmaghgolfclub/

The Club Twitter Page link is: https://twitter.com/ArmaghCo

We both mentioned the progress which the Club had made towards the “One club” model which guarantees that the rights and entitlements of members are determined by membership category and not by gender and we are committed to working together in 2023 to see this ambition achieved.

We have already held our first Club Governance meeting to look at our current status regarding this initiative and also to map out our way forward over the season. This proved very productive and positive and augurs well for the upcoming season.

Both Lily and myself are currently putting the final touches to our lists of Club Convenors, their respective Committees and also our InterClub Team Captains for the year and these will be published shortly.

On the team's front, there have been a number of changes to the playing/qualification criteria for different teams for the 2023 season, particularly in relation to Golf Ireland Competitions and we will be organising information meetings for Team Convenors and Captains in February to go through these in more detail.

We both made reference in our speeches to the charitable appeal for donations to Armagh Food Bank during the month of January.

A massive thanks to members for their generous donations to date, keep them coming in and also The Club Professional, Will Carey, who had agreed to accept donations of non-perishable foodstuffs in the Club Professional’s Shop.

The link to the Food Bank's website is https://armagh.foodbank.org.uk/ This gives details of how to donate, volunteer or make an application for assistance.

That's all for the moment and as promised we will endeavor to keep you up to date on club issues as the year progresses. Hopefully you will all get a chance to play some golf this weekend.
