On Thursday 4 th October a large number of ladies played the last weekly competition of 2018 in the form of a 15 and 9-hole stableford in which Gladys Villiers emerged as the winner with a very good score of 32 points.

Before presenting the prizes, Lady Captain Elizabeth wished everyone well in the winter league and reminded them of the AGM on Thursday 29th November. Elizabeth had visited former Lady Captain Sadie Scott to mark her 90 th birthday and leave gifts on behalf of the Ladies Branch.
The penultimate stableford competition of the season was held on Thursday 27 th September with 58 ladies taking part in the weekly competition and also getting into the Ryder Cup spirit by representing either Team Europe or Team America.
Lady Captain Elizabeth Mawhinney, who had returned from the Albatross Course at le Golf National in Paris welcomed everyone to the club, which was decorated with American and European flags . First place in the stableford competition went to Valerie Gordon with 37 points beating Jacqueline Kelly on a countback. Third place went to Gladys Villiers with 35 points.

The categories were also highly contested.
The annual McAnerney's Open Charity Stableford competition was held on Thursday 20 th September on a course recovering from the ravages of storm Ali which had raged across the country the previous day leaving behind fallen tree trunks and branches.
The sponsor Mrs Catherine McAnerney held a coffee morning on the day raising over £1,000 for the Hospice . 76 ladies and 18 gentlemen played in the open stableford competition which was generously sponsored by McAnerney's Supermarket Armagh with proceeds going to Breast Cancer Research. The top prize went to Caitlin Hanna (Dungannon) with 40 points beating Lorraine Megaw into second with 38 points. Third place went to Teresa McVeigh with 37 points just ahead of Helen McCourt who took 4 th place with 36 points. The Gross prize was won by June Humphries with 26 gross points.

This week's Stableford competition at Co Armagh Golf Club was sponsored by FAB Beauty Salon . Lady Captain Elizabeth Mawhinney sincerely thanked Eimear, who unfortunately couldn't attend the prizegiving, for her generous support for the Ladies Branch. Emear has a long association with the Ladies Branch through her father Pat McKenna and her aunt Kathleen. Fifty-two ladies competed for FAB gift vouchers and aq `\w those not in the winner's enclosure were eligible for spot prizes which Eimear had kindly provided.
The overall winner on the day was Emma Garrigan with an outstanding 45 points. Emma is one of the ladies who joined the club via the Get into Golf Initiative and has flourished, picking up three winner's prizes and two second places along with several category prizes so far this year. A delighted Emma thanked the sponsor and her playing partners Teresa McVeigh and Gemma Rice . Siobhan Donnelly secured second spot with 41 points and third place honours went to Jackie Donnelly with 40 points.

Maggie wins with magnificent score.
On a day when the threatening rain failed to appear over 40 ladies turned out to compete for the September Medal on a course which was in magnificent condition. Lady Captain Elizabeth Mawhinney sincerely thanked the sponsor Annette of OL Flowers for attending the prizegiving and bringing with her a beautiful array of floral arrangements which brightened up the clubhouse.
The winner of the September medal was Maggie McKee with an exceptional score of nett 61 . Maggie took up golf last year via the Get into Golf initiative and has really embraced the game which she has mastered with great skill. Accepting her prize a delighted Maggie thanked Annette for her loyal support for the Ladies Branch and her playing partner Bernie who kept her focussed throughout an exemplary round of golf. Teresa McVeigh took second place with a nett 66 ahead of Alexandra Mawhinney who secured 3 rd place with a 70. Meanwhile Ellen Brady took yet another Gross prize.

116 ladies, including visitors from Banbridge, Old Conna, Portadown, Donaghadee, Kilcock Dungannon and Rossmore competed for the prestigious Armaghdale Cup on Saturday 1st September. The ladies challenge cup was originally presented to the club in 1926 by Lady Armaghdale. The competition was once again generously sponsored by G Davidson Business Accounts Services , represented on the night by Francis Davidson.
Lady Captain Elizabeth Mawhinney welcomed Francis and thanked her sincerely for her company's long-standing support of the competition and the generous prizes provided for the lucky winners.
Jacqueline Donnelly emerged as the winner of the much sought after Armaghdale Trophy with a nett score of 67 beating Teresa McVeigh on a countback. Jacqueline joined the club last year via the Get into Golf initiative and has made great strides as evidenced by her winning performances throughout the year. Una Cullinane secured third place with nett 70
