AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

The premier Ladies competition of the year was held on Saturday 28th June, this being Lady Captain Frances Davidson’s glorious day!

A fantastic turnout of ladies playing marked the beginning of Lady Captain Frances’ prize. Eager competitors received a gift bag of treats courtesy of the Lady Captain before teeing off at the first tee box which was surrounded by beautiful planters. The day was to deliver everything from bursts of rain, breeze and sunshine. Despite the weather everyone enjoyed a pleasant stableford round of golf on a course that was in fantastic condition.

Lady Captain Frances favoured ‘The Masters’ theme for her day and this was beautifully displayed throughout the clubhouse. The flower arrangements around the clubhouse were fabulous and very much admired. A sincere thanks was given by Lady Captain to Gemma, Sheila & Bernie for exhibiting their amazing talent.

A great atmosphere continued for our lady Captain throughout the day in CAGC as ladies also had the opportunity to participate in the Putting Competition.

As members and invited guests arrived in style to the evening celebrations they mingled in the foyer to a drinks reception very kindly provided by Lady Captain Frances and to the beautiful music of the harp played by one of the Club’s young members, Clara Cavanagh.

The drinks reception set the ambience for the evening and this was followed by a scrumptious 3 course meal and prize giving.

Flo Mc Call, Ladies Section Secretary introduced the evening. Lady Captain Frances extended a very warm welcome to Mr Captain Ian, Lady Vice Captain Julie, Lady President Elizabeth, Past Lady Captain Ellen, members, invited guests, and especially her husband Gerry, sons Conor and Darren and family members who have been very supportive to her over the past six months.

Lady Captains chosen charity for the day was ‘Marie Curie’ and she sincerely thanked everyone who very generously donated to a sum total of £2,700.00.

Lady Captain Frances continued to thank Brenda and the catering team of Parklands for the delicious food and encouraged everyone to enjoy the evening celebrations.

Paula Mc Crory, Handicap Secretary announced the winners and with the assistance of Flo Mc Call and Joy Steenson, Lady Captain Frances presented her most generous and beautiful prizes to the individual winners. A special mention to Lynne Brown who recorded a fabulous Hole in One at the 18th!

The prize giving concluded with a vote of thanks to Lady Captain Frances from Sr Barbara, a very dear friend of our Lady Captain and seconded by Flo Mc Call (Ladies Section Secretary) who has been a wonderful secretary to everyone and especially to the Lady Captain. Flo presented LC Frances with a bouquet of flowers to which everyone applauded.

The evening continued with music by Stevie Jones.

A sincere thank you to all who made Lady Captain’s Day 2025 so special to CAGC Lady Captain Frances.
