There was a big entry of ladies for the Fox Cup & Culmore Shield stroke competitions which took place at County Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 26th June. The competitions were very kindly sponsored by Annette Foster, Ol Flowers.
Lady Captain Frances Davidson thanked Annette for her generous and continued support before inviting her to present the beautiful floral prizes.
Fox Cup
The Fox Cup, for those with a playing handicap in the 0 – 27 range was won by Ellen Brady with a nett 65. Second with a nett 69 was Eileen Fitzsimons and Maggie McKee was third with a nett 70 beating Paula McCrory on countback.
The front 9 was won by Una Cullinane with nett 33 and the back 9 by Elizabeth Mawhinney with nett 35.
Culmore Shield
The Culmore Shield, for those with a playing handicap of 28 plus (maximum handicap 38 for the winner) was won by Kathleen Oliver with nett 73. Aisling Ward was second with nett 71 – full handicap and Carmel Harney third with nett 74 – full handicap.
The front 9 was won by Lynda Coyle with nett 33 and the back 9 by Gladys Villiers with nett 37.
Two’s - Ellen Brady 2 at 11th, Sheila Stinson 2 at 18th and Vera Ellingham 2 at 18th.
Birdies – Ellen Brady 4 at 12th, Gillian Poole 4 at 16th and Maggie McKee 4 at 16th.
Nine Hole Competition
The winner was Ann O’Hea with 20 points and in second place was Donna Carolan with 18 points beating Helen McLaughlin on countback.
