AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

The annual Macmillan Charity Stableford, very generously sponsored by V Mone and Son, Keady, took place at Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 1 June 2023.

The competition was played in perfect conditions, with basking sunshine and plenty of run on the ball.  For many it provided the first opportunity to play the redesigned par 3 18th hole.  The new hole didn’t phase Eileen Fitzsimons however, as it yielded her the first birdie during a Thursday competition.

As always, the competition was very well supported by the ladies of Co Armagh.  Sixty-two ladies played in the 18 hole and a further fifteen ladies entered the 9 hole competition.  The fabulous prizes, which were representative of the variety of items available to purchase at V Mone and Son, Keady, had all been beautifully displayed.

Lady Captain, Lily McMullan welcomed a packed clubhouse to prize-giving, extending a special welcome to Miriam McKibbin and Anne Mone, V Mone and Son, Keady.  She thanked them for their long-standing support of the competition and the beautiful prizes.

18 Hole Competition

The delighted winner, with 39 pts, was Gladys Villiers, one point clear of Maggie Donnelly, who secured second place with 38 pts.  June Humphries won the gross prize with 28 gross points.  New country member Ros Ashton was third with 37 pts - an achievement that was all the greater, it being her first time playing the course!
