AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

On Bank Holiday Monday 8 May 23, a large number of ladies set off by bus from Co Armagh Golf Club for Lady Captain Lily’s Away Day to Edenmore. With thunder and lightning forecast in the afternoon, you could have been forgiven for pulling out, however, as the day developed so too did the sun. The dark clouds disappeared leaving a beautiful blue sky and perfect golfing conditions, with layers being peeled off by many at the clubhouse before tackling the back 9.

Before stepping onto the first tee, ladies enjoyed tea or coffee and a bacon bap and received a complimentary goodie bag of essentials, courtesy of Edenmore Golf Club. Upon return to the clubhouse, a delicious meal was enjoyed by all and there was much chat and laughter as everyone eagerly awaited the prize-giving and a chance to win one of the fabulous prizes, very generously provided by Lady Captain Lily.

The longest drive was won by Maggie McKee and Joy Steenson won nearest the pin.

The 9 hole competition was won by Tish Burke, with Catherine McAnerney second.

1st       Gail Steed (35 pts)

2nd      Lorraine Megaw (35 pts)
Gross  Paula McCrory (25 pts)

3rd       Maggie McKee (34 pts)

4th       Sheila Stinson (32 pts)

Front 9            Phil McKenna (18 pts)

Back 9             Una Cullinane (17 pts)

There was a large number of lucky dip prizes, for those who didn’t make it into the winners’ enclosure, provided by Lady Captain Lily, Edenmore Golf Club, Parklands Restaurant and Co Armagh Golf Club Bar.

Barbara Hamilton was the lucky winner of the 4-ball for Edenmore. She now has the opportunity to come back and enjoy the beautiful and well-maintained course.

Many thanks to Lady Captain Lily for organising such an enjoyable day and for the generous prizes.
