The Millennium Bowl and McCall Shield Stroke Competitions were held at Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 27 April 2023. The competitions were very kindly sponsored by Anthony Farrell, The Money Shop.
Forty-seven ladies played in the 18 hole competition.
Prize-giving was conducted by Lady Vice Captain Ellen Brady, who tendered Lady Captain Lily’s apologies, welcomed those present and extended thanks to Anthony Farrell, The Money Shop for his sponsorship.
Millennium Bowl
Aoife Lennon was the winner of the Millennium Bowl with nett 69. Competed for by golfers with a playing handicap between 0 and 24, the Bowl was donated by Mrs Cecelia Woods, Lady Captain in 2000.
Second, with nett 71, was Flo McCall and Emma Garrigan was third with nett 73, beating Paula McCrory, Ellen Brady and Vera Ellingham on the better back 9.
Vera Ellingham won the front 9 with nett 33 and Geraldine Rafferty won the back 9 with nett 36.
McCall Shield
The McCall Shield, for those with a playing handicap 25 and above, was won by Mary Martin with nett 70. The Shield had been presented to the Club by Mrs Flo McCall when she was Lady Captain in 2009. Mrs McCall presented the prizes to the competition winners.
Fionnuala Quinn was second with nett 76 and Carmel Cassidy was third with nett 78.
Barbara Hamilton won the front 9 with nett 35 and Helen McLaughlin won the back 9 with nett 40.
Twos were recorded by Teresa McVeigh at the 7th and 11th, Aoife Lennon at the 7th and 13th and Geraldine Rafferty at the 11th.
9 hole competition
A further thirteen ladies played 9 holes and the winner was Anne Cairns with 20 pts. Carina Oliver was second with 17 pts, beating Doreen Lappin on the countback.
