AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

Despite it being a lovely spring day, playing conditions were incredibly tough for the 55 ladies who played in the first Medal competition of the year at County Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 20 April 2023, evidenced by the results.

Lady Captain Lily McMullan welcomed new sponsor, Mulberry Bistro, and apologised on behalf of Cormac who was unable to attend. In his absence she thanked him for his sponsorship.

Lady Captain Lily advised of upcoming team fixtures:

1st May Junior Cup Royal County Down 2 home / 3 away
2nd May Revive Active Rossmore 3 home / 2 away
4th May Junior Foursomes Lurgan 2 away / 1 home
14th May Challenge Cup Mannan Castle 3 away / 2 home
14th May All Ireland Mixed Concra Wood 3 home / 2 away
21st May Minor Cup Killymoon 3 away / 2 home
 

In other news, Lady Captain Lily reminded ladies that information about the outing to Edenmore on Monday 8th May had been posted in the locker room. The draft for the Link Cup would be emailed out over the next few days and entry for the Hirsch Cup was due to close shortly.

The competition was won by Michelle Kinane with nett 70. Second place and one point behind, was Valerie Gordon with nett 71. LVC Ellen Brady won the gross prize with gross 82 and Emma Garrigan secured third place with nett 72.

The category winners were:

Cat A – Hilary Johnson               nett 74

Cat B – Brigid McEneaney          nett 73

Cat C – Cait McKinney                nett 78

Cat D – Anne Attwell                   nett 76

The front 9 was won by Anne Black with nett 33 and the back 9 by Sr Barbara Gartland with nett 35.

A further 13 ladies played in the 9 hole competition which was won by Lynda Coyle with 17 pts. Margaret Marjoram was runner-up with 15 pts.

There were twos for Paula McCrory, Frances Davidson and Michelle Kinane at the temporary 2nd, Aoife Lennon and Brigid McEneaney at the 7th and Hilary Johnston at the 11th.

Birdies were recorded by Ellen Brady at the 5th and 8th, Emma Garrigan at the 8th and LC Lily at the 10th.

Accepting her prize, Michelle Kinane expressed her delight at winning the competition and thanked the sponsor, Mullberry Bistro.
