AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

On Thursday 29 August, sixty ladies played in the Club Stableford competition sponsored by Sawyer’s Transport at Co Armagh.

The competition standard scratch was 71.

Lady Captain Moya welcomed everyone present and thanked Sawyer’s Transport for their sponsorship.

The winner of the competition, with a fantastic 40 pts, was Eileen Fitzsimons. Junior Cup team members Paula McCrory and June Humphries were second and third respectively each with 37 pts.

The remaining prize winners were:

Cat A – Mary Black                    37 pts

Cat B – Una Cullinane                33 pts

Cat C – Lorraine Megaw            36 pts

Cat D – Sheila Stinson               37 pts

Not to be outdone, Junior Cup team captain Lily McMullan won the Front 9 with 19 pts, beating Anne O’Reilly on the countback and panel member Colette McSorley won the Back 9 with 20 pts.

Margaret Oakes won the 9 hole competition with 18 pts, beating Barbara Hamilton on the countback and Lena Duffy won the weekly Time for Nine competition with 20 pts.

There were birdies for Hilary Johnston at the 1st, Paula McCrory at the 14th, Moya Brady and Colette McSorley at the 15th, Mary Black at the 15th and 16th and Ellen Brady at the 16th.

There were 2s recorded by Vera Ellingham at the 3rd, Aoife Lennon at the 7th and Anne McDonald at the 11th.

There were handicap cuts for Eileen Fitzsimons 21-19.7, June Humphries 11-10.3 and Sheila Stinson 29-28.2.

Mrs Moya Brady, Lady Captain welcomed a large number of ladies to prize-giving and explained that unfortunately the sponsor was unable to be present as he was on holidays. Fellow golfer Gail Steed was on hand as the sponsor’s representative to present the prizes.

Karen Edgar won first place wth a fantastic 44 pts, 6 points clear of Aoife Lennon’s 38 pts for second. Eileen Fitzsimons came third, also with 38 pts.
