Chris Campbell produced a masterful performance to capture the monthly medal, which was kindly sponsored by ARMAGH BUSINESS CENTRE.
Carding a phenomenal net score of 63 (9-under par net) to blow the field away. Playing off an 18 handicap, Campbell put together a highly consistent round, expertly managing the course to finish six shots clear of the scratch par of 69.
Campbell started steadily, dropping just a single shot on the 1st before settling into his rhythm with a par on the 2nd and a brilliant gross par on the par-3 3rd. A minor speed bump arrived at the difficult index-2 5th hole, where a triple-bogey 7 threatened to derail the card. However, Campbell showed immense resilience, bouncing back immediately to play the remaining four holes of the front nine in just 1-over gross, turning in a highly respectable gross 40 (net 33).
Holding a fantastic position at the turn, Campbell displayed excellent nerve on the back nine. He opened with a gross bogey on the 10th but followed it up with a run of rock-solid pars on the 11th and 12th. Despite dropping shots on the 13th and 15th, he closed out his round with ultimate composure, playing the final three holes in just 1-over gross to sign for a back-nine 41 (net 33) and seal a memorable victory.
A closely bunched pack followed him home with 3 players carding Nett 65’s and they were separated by their back 9 scores.
David Murphy playing off 23, claimed 2nd place, B Wilson off 22 was in 3rd and Patrick Young playing off 20 finished 4th.
Paul Traynor off 13 finished in 5th with a Nett 66 and 9 Handicapper Kenny Edgar was 6th with a Nett 67.
The Gross prize was claimed by Timothy Jordan playing off +2 with a Nett 74, Gross 72 courtesy of a better back 3.
