It was a fantastic week for the ladies from County Armagh Golf Club as they had two teams representing Ulster in the AIG All-Ireland Match Play Finals 22-24 September at Dundalk Golf Club, with many club members travelling down to support.
The Minor Cup team had an excellent performance in the semi-final on Thursday, beating Athy (East Leinster) in a very tightly fought contest with Eileen Fitzsimons winning her match on the 20 th hole to seal the victory for County Armagh, allowing them to progress to Friday's All-Ireland final. They faced Ballinrobe Golf Club (Connacht) and unfortunately were unable to beat the stronger team on the day. They were still proud to be presented with their silver medals as All-Ireland runners up in front of a packed club house in Dundalk.
The Challenge Cup played Ballybunion (Munster) in their semi-final and despite a great win (6&4) by Ann O'Reilly unfortunately lost three other matches.

The annual McAnerney Open charity stableford was held on Thursday 15 th September. The sponsor, Mrs Catherine McAnerney, organised a coffee morning in the club house raising almost £1400 for Action Cancer and the Hospice. 71 ladies played in the competition which was sponsored by McAnerney's Supermarket, Armagh. The proud winner of the top prize, Sheila Stinson, had a magnificent score of 40 points.
55 ladies played in the club stableford on the 8 th September with June Humphries pipping Hilary Johnston at the post, both with 37 points.
87 ladies, including a considerable number of visitors, competed for the coveted Armaghdale Cup on Saturday 3 rd September. This competition was again generously sponsored by Gerard Davidson Business Account Services, represented on the night by his wife lady member Frances.
Karen Edgar was delighted to be the winner of the historic and prestigious trophy with an excellent nett 70, followed by runner up Katherine Steenson with a nett 71.

The competition was very generously sponsored by lady member Paula McRory of Stirling House Financial Services. The winner with a nett 70 was Lily McMullan followed by Barbara Hamilton with a nett 71. In third place with a nett 73 was Brigid McEneaney beating Bernie Rice on the better back nine.
A huge congratulations to the Minor Cup team who defeated Malone and the Challenge Cup team who defeated Donaghadee to emerge as champions in the Ulster District Finals of the inter-club matchplay held at Dungannon Golf Club on Sunday 28th August.
Both Co. Armagh teams will now go forward to represent Ulster in the National Finals at Dundalk Golf Club 22nd – 24th September.
Sixty-six ladies waltzed their way around the course in beautiful sunshine on Thursday 25 August and the winning team with 78 points was Anne McDonald, Carmel Cassidy and Eilish Grimes.
