The glorious summer weather attracted seventy-two ladies to participate in this week's competition which was once again generously sponsored by Specsavers/Hearcare.
At the evening prizegiving Vice Lady Captain Moya who was deputising for the Lady Captain Elizabeth who is enjoying a well-deserved holiday abroad, welcomed everyone to a busy clubhouse. Moya explained that unfortunately the sponsor was unable to attend as he too was on holiday.
The overall winner on the day was Alexandra Mawhinney with 40 points . Lily McMullan secured second spot with 38 points, beating Karen Edgar on a count back .

The annual Margaret Deane Mixed Greensomes competition took place on Friday 20 th July. The competition was sponsored by Noel Conn & Co Accountants .
At the prizegiving in the clubhouse, the Lady Captain Elizabeth Mawhinney expressed her sincere thanks for the continued generous support which Noel has given to the Ladies branch. Elizabeth explained the competition had originally been in foursomes format but is now played as greensomes. Margaret Deane had been an honorary secretary in the club and following her passing the club donated the beautiful trophy in her honour and selected her chosen charity the RNLI as the beneficiary of the event.

1 st Place Ann McDonald and Sean Dougan nett 65.
The warm sunny conditions which have prevailed during recent weeks held for the 46 ladies who competed for the July Medal. Lady Captain Elizabeth was delighted with the large number of ladies who competed and attended prize giving despite it being holiday time and a stroke competition.
Elizabeth welcomed Mrs Flo McCall in her capacity as representative of the Southern Area Hospice to receive a cheque for £1,905. Flo expressed her delight and appreciation of the amazing amount of money raised by Elizabeth on her recent Lady Captain's day. She explained that the Newry hospice which first opened in 1989 provides vital services to over one thousand families and that this could not be done without the support of local communities and their fund-raising activities.

The course was in superb condition, with fast running greens making scoring difficult. However, the very much in form Emma Garrigan found no such difficulty however, returning an excellent nett 65 to win by 4 shots from Siobhan Donnelly, in second place.

Francis Davidson took third place honours with a nett 70 while Paula McCrory took another Gross prize with 81 strokes.
Hewitt Meats were again generous sponsors of the Ellie Mayne Cup. Mrs Ellie Mayne presented the beautifully engraved cup to the ladies' branch in 1966 and her golf clubs adorn the walls of the clubhouse.
The glorious weather conditions which have prevailed throughout the month of June continued and attracted 54 ladies to compete in this prestigious event.
The overall winner was Vice Lady Captain Moya Brady with a magnificent score of 43 points on count back from runner up Denise Murphy and Maggie McKee who secured third place with 39 points.

The ladies of Co Armagh Golf club enjoyed Mediterranean weather conditions as they competed for the array of beautiful Newbridge jewellery prizes which Lady Captain Elizabeth had chosen to mark her special day; and what a special day it was.
The course was in magnificent condition thanks to the Greens Staff and volunteers. The beautiful fairways encouraged a run on the ball which some players found difficult to harness, while others welcomed the extra length which they obtained. The sun-drenched, fast-running greens proved challenging. However, these challenges were easily overcome by Valerie Gordon who emerged as the overall winner of the Lady Captain's prize .

Lady Captain Elizabeth Mawhinney welcomed everyone to the clubhouse for prize giving and referenced the perfect weather and course conditions but very challenging pin positions which competitors had encountered. However, although she couldn't guarantee the weather she assured everyone that the pin positions would be much more manageable on Saturday for her Lady Captain's Day. The ladies competed for the Ian Donaldson Trophy which was donated by Ian during his Captain's year in 1979. He later served as President of the Club when the existing clubhouse was reopened following reconstruction in 1982.
Ellen's Fish and Chips Keady are the new sponsors for this prestigious trophy. Lady Captain Elizabeth thanked Ellen for her generous sponsorship and beautiful golf wear prizes which she had purchased from the pro shop. Ellen had been a long-term sponsor of the winter putting competition and explained she was delighted to transfer her support to the summer competition. Ellen also wished Elizabeth a lovely day for her upcoming Lady Captain's Day on Saturday.
Ann Mone took third place with 33 points just behind Alexandra Mawhinney who returned 34 points. The overall winner was Anne O'Reilly with 39 points. Accepting her prize Anne thanked her playing partner Jacqueline Kelly and Ellen for her fantastic prizes and expressed her delight at being the recipient of the cup.

Lady Captain Elizabeth Mawhinney welcomed everyone to the presentation of prizes and expressed her relief that the main competition and the visiting Lady Captain's event had been played in pleasant conditions as the stormy night and early morning rain had threatened proceedings. Seventeen visiting Lady Captain's had enjoyed a coffee morning reception, a nine-hole competition followed by a lovely lunch and prize giving.
The winner of first prize in the Club Stableford competition was Cait McKinney who returned an excellent score of 40 points , to beat runner up Breda Teahan who recorded 39 points. Third place honours went to Colette McSorley with 37 points.
Cait was delighted to accept her prize and wished Elizabeth a successful Lady Captain's Day on Saturday 23 rd.
