New Years Day Fun Competition
A nine hole fun competition was held for the ladies branch of County Armagh Golf Club to celebrate New Year’s Day. Over 50 ladies took part in competition which was rounded off with a healthy breakfast in the clubhouse for those who played and their guests.
The outgoing Lady Captain Irene Lutton thanked everyone for the support they gave her during the year and wished the incoming Lady Captain Margaret Marjoram a successful year ahead. Margaret said she is looking forward to working on behalf of the Ladies Branch to ensure they have an enjoyable year and that members continue to excel at local and regional competitions.
She then presented prizes to the winners of the fun competition as follows: Teresa Corrigan
1st place with 20 points Pauline Gingles 2nd Place with 18 points beating Hilary Johnston who also had 18 points on the count back.

Lady Captain Irene Lutton presented a cheque for £2536.50 to the Southern Area Hospice on Thursday night last. Flo McCall accepted the cheque on behalf of the Hospice and was amazed by the generosity of the members of the Club. Irene picked the Hospice as her Charity this year in memory of Ivan Marshall. His wife Daphne was also at the presentation.
Most of the money was raised on Lady Captain’s Day with the remainder coming from a 9 Hole Competition in October.
Also on the night Greta Forster representing The Charlemont Arms Hotel presented a separate cheque to Flo which was the proceeds of the Charlemont Salver MatchPlay Competition.

Team Captain Barbara Jenkins was a very proud lady when her team collected the Challenge Cup at the Ulster finals in Rockmount.
Her Team had beaten six Northern Ireland Teams to become champions.
In the first match they played Fortwilliam in North Belfast. This was followed by matches against Newtownstewart, Royal Portrush, and Donaghadee. They then played the semi-final against Clandeboye and beat Royal Belfast in a neutral venue (Rockmount) to win the Challenge Cup.

The winning team then went forward to the All-Ireland Finals in Monkstown Golf Club in Co. Cork
We had 96 ladies playing in the McAnerneys Open Charity Stableford Competition this week. Again conditions were great and the weather was very warm. The Competition is very kindly sponsored by McAnerney's and Catherine presented the prizes on their behalf. Margaret Marjoram thanked Catherine for her generous sponsorship and was delighted to hear that the fundraising Coffee Morning which had taken place earlier for Newry Hospice had been very successful.
The winner of the Cup this year was Pauling Gingles with 41 points just beating Catherine Corrigan who also had 41 points.

This week's Stableford Competition was played for on another beautiful day.
Gillian Poole was the worthy winner with 39 points, closely followed by Phil McKenna who had 38 points.

The Armaghdale Cup was played for last Saturday in much better conditions than previous years. It was again very generously sponsored by Gerard Davidson Business Services. There was a large turnout from the Armagh ladies along with visitors from six other clubs. Mary Black was this year's winner with a fabulous net 63, Carolyn McCall took second place with net 66 and Rea Haughey was third with net 68. Frances Davidson representing the Sponsor presented the stunning jewellery prizes and Lady Captain Irene thanked her for their sponsorship and support for the ladies.
