The course was in magnificent condition for the annual competition which was again sponsored by Rice's Supermarket, Keady who have been associated with the charity for many years. Although it was officially the first day of spring the persistent rain, combined with a requirement to play to three quarters of normal handicap, made for a particularly challenging round of golf.
The club house was packed with ladies dressed in pink reflecting the worthy charity which this event supports. Mrs Phil Rice, on behalf of the sponsors organised the fabulous display of generous hampers which she presented to the grateful prize-winners. The overall winners were the experienced pairing of Valerie Gordon and Ellen Brady who returned a magnificent score of 49 points. Weather conditions were again excellent as was the condition of the course after a dry and sunny spell. The run on the ball tempted many to predict low scoring but the pace of the greens fooled most competitors. Those who trusted their putting stoke on the greens were rewarded with true rolls. Those whose stroke was a little more tentative were heard vainly calling on their balls to stop and then faced with daunting return putts, or in more than one instance, return chips!

While early April usually marks the start of the golfing season with the Augusta Masters, the Ladies of County Armagh Golf Club begin their golfing endeavours in earnest on the last Thursday of April with competition for the Millennium Bowl for golfers in the handicap range of 0-24, and the McCall Shield for golfers in the 25 to 36 handicap bracket.
The Millennium Bowl was donated by the Lady Captain in 2000, Mrs. Cecelia Woods while the McCall Shield was donated by Flo McCall during her captaincy in 2009.
Both competitions were generously sponsored by O'Reilly and Fee, Veterinary Surgery, and the vast array of prizes were presented on the night by Anne O'Reilly.
Competition was keen for both trophies and while the course was in magnificent shape, the chilly and blustery conditions presented players with a stern challenge. This was reflected in the standard scratch of 71.
The Millennium Bowl was won by Mary Black with a nett 70, from Valerie Gordon and Moya Brady with scores of 71 and 72 respectively. Helen Forster's 72 secured her a category prize, edging out Paula McCrory who returned a nett 73.
