Mark is open stableford winner
DESPITE a triple bogey seven for a 'no-score' at the 18th hole, Mark Frazer clinched victory in the County Armagh Golf Club Open Week stableford competition.
The city businessman's 42 stableford points was enough to take the honours in the Holmes and Doran Surveyors sponsored event, albeit on countback, with Neil Cromwell and Andrew Allen also returning 42 points on the day.
11-handicapper Mark produced some steady scoring over the front nine holes with a birdie three at the 4th hole thrown in for good measure to push his points tally for the outward trek to 22. And with a further hat-trick of birdies at the 15th, 16th and 17th holes, he added a further 20 points from the back nine.
Three handicapper Neil Cromwell claimed the runners up prize with 42 points - a series of short putts on the slow greens punishing him severely.Â
For Andrew Allen his 42 points earned him third prize but he will be hugely disappointed not to have claimed the top prize - no-scores at the 7th and 14th holes ultimately denying him that trophy.
The ever steady Nigel McMahon claimed fourth prize with an excellent 41 points and student Adam Cromwell followed his dad onto the prize winners list with an excellent 41 points also.
Chris Stockdale meanwhile, was just a point behind on 40 points and picked up the sixth and final prize in what proved to be a hugely successful Open Week competition.

Caolan grows his prize haul
CAOLAN Doyle added yet another prize to his growing list in what has been a hugely successful season for the young golfer at County Armagh Golf Club by winning the recent Sunday Stableford.
The 10-handicapper was simply way better than all the rest with a superb 45 points. A birdie four at the par-five 8th hole helped boost his points tally for the front nine to 22.
And further birdies at the 12th and 14th holes set him on his way to an even better 23 points tally for the back nine holes.
Even the club's most inform player Andrew Millar was unable to catch him. The Killylea man, who plays of a handicap of two, returned an impressive 44 points for his gross 64 to lift the runners up prize.
In Category One meanwhile, Philip Kelly was equally impressive with 43 points for his two-under par round. Shea Brady was a point further adrift on 42 for his one-under par round to lift the category runners up prize.
C Hughes 42 points won Category 2 where Derek McKeever claimed second prize with an excellent 42 points.
And Brendan O'Hea led home the Category 3 golfers with 41 points. Legal-eagle John George Willis runner up on 38 points.
