AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

BY a three stroke margin Barry Scully clinched the Open Stroke competition prize at County Armagh.

The 13 handicapper's nett 64 was untouchable in the Cross Group sponsored event during Open Week at the city course.

The young Keady golfer was just three over after nine holes and dropped only a further four shots on his way to victory.

Club Vice Captain Marty Oliver's nett 67 was the nearest anyone came to the Barry. His level par back nine clinched the runner's up prize ahead of the club's assistant professional Adam Kerr who also returned a nett 67 – the 4-handicapper's card recording birdies at the 2 nd , 6 th  12 th  and 15 th  holes for a level par front nine and one over par back nine.

James Thompson was a welcome new name introduced to the prizes with a nett 67 also, the 16 handicapper claiming fourth prize in the competition.

Ronan O'Reilly (8) was just a shot adrift on 68 and Shea Smyth (4), part of the same four ball on the day, shot 69 to take sixth place, with Philip Kelly (2) bringing up the rear of the prize list with a nett 69 also.
