Duncan and Shea come up Trumps

Another bumper crown of young juvenile boys took to the fairways on Saturday afternoon last and huge stableford scores were recorded, partly due to the wonderful conditions and a little ‘bit of run’ on the fairways.

In the senior juvenile section Armagh Royal schoolboy Duncan Steed made a return to top form with an excellent 40 pts, followed by the ever consistent Shane Forde in 2nd with 39 pts with Patrick McKenna in 3rd on 37 pts, winning on the back nine from Barry Lappin, also on 37 pts with Jonathan Hewitt in 5th on 35 pts.

In the junior section, the big-hitting Shea Smyth went berserk with his 58 pts ahead of his St. Patrick’s High School colleague Joseph Hughes who came 2nd with 55 pts.  Back in 3rd was Luke Reaney with his 47 pts followed by James Thompson and Kevin McKenna in 4th and 5th places, both on 46 pts.  Big cuts are on the way next week for these young big-hitting boys.

The Fred Daly team will play the 2nd leg of their match against Holywood Golf Club on Sunday next at 2.00 pm and the younger and higher handicapped boys should come out and support their lower handicapped colleagues and I can assure you all that it is a very enjoyable experience.
