Gillen makes his mark in Spring League.

The annual Spring League started at the weekend in fine golfing conditions and with the winter weather having abated many golfers took to the course in the hope of kick starting their season by getting in the prizes over the six week period.As always at this time of the year it is the players who have continued throughout the winter who manage to be in form for this competition and this year was no exception with a close call for first place between three players on 38 points.It was on this occasion Mark Gillen who took the top prize on the back nine leaving Vice-Captain Tom Calvert to take the 0-12 category with his 38 points,regular prizewinner Michael Cullen off a new handicap of 11 taking the 13-18 category with his similar score of 38 points and Michael Murphy just returned from his successful golf trip to the Algarve picking up the final category of 19-28 with his 37 points.
