Norman conquers the fog to take first place The Club Stableford at the weekend was played on both Saturday and Sunday in cold foggy conditions but the ardent golfers were not put off and many returned to the course after a long lay off due to the spell of bad weather. With the difficult conditions on the shortened course of sixteen holes many struggled to reached the standard of scores of last week and only one player managed to break 40 points this week.On this occasion Norman Mallon showed the rest that he was in excellent form and took first place with 42 points leaving his nearest rival Johnny Palmer just returned from his annual winter golf trip to Portugal in second place with his 39 points. In the categories Martin Murphy continued his run of form to take first place on the back nine from Nigel McMahon in second place when they both returned 36 points in the 0-12 section. The 13-18 category was a close affair with regular winner Michael Cullen once again taking first place on the back nine from Joe Rhodie in second place on the back nine when they both returned 37 points. The last section 19-28 was taken on this occasion by Sam MacNiece with his 36 points while newcomer Philip Richards had to settle for second place with his 35 points.
