Leo is King of the Club Stableford At long last the weather changed for the better allowing golfers to end their enforced hibernation and to return to the course to flex their muscles and many to try out their new clubs in the weekend Stableford Competition. It was obvious from some of the scoring that the lay off had a detremental effect on several players and it will probably take weeks to get back into the swing of things but on the other hand some scores returned show that a few golfers may have peaked early or given us a sign of things to come.Either way playing partners Leo King and Stephen Magee started the year in a tremendous battle with Leo just edging it by one point when he returned a superb score of 45 points to take first place leaving Stephen in second place with his 44 points which included and eagle two at the seventeenth and a birdie at eighteenth for a total of nine points over the last two holes. In the categories the 0-12 section was a close affair between Paddy Duffy & Gary McCourt when they both returned 37 points with Paddy taking first place on the back nine.In the second category 13-18 it was once again Michael Cullen who continues to stand out in the section taking first place with a superb 41 points and John Lowe his nearest rival in second place with his 37 points. The final category 19-28 was another close fought contest with Pat Campbell taking first place on the countback from regular prizewinner Paul McCreesh in second place when they both returned excellent scores of 39 points.
