AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

COUNTY Armagh Golf Club's Juvenile Captain Lee Campbell is certainly planning to lead by example after winning the first Medal competition of the new season.

Lee, playing of a handicap of 10, returned a nett 65 to collect the coveted Club Medal. A level par front nine which included birdies at the 5 th and 8 th holes, was backed up with a five-over-par back nine for that winning nett 65 score.

A shot behind in runners up spot was Caolan McBride, a 21-handicapper, who will otherwise have been very happy but for the triple-bogey 7 at the par 4 17 th hole.

County Armagh Golf Club Captain Martin Oliver presents the April Medal to Juvenile Captain Lee Campbell. Included also are category prize winners in the first medal competition of the season, Tom Donnelly and Johnny Brown

Club Captain Martin Oliver (9) shot a nett 67 to win the 0-12 handicap category – out in 37 shots and back in 39 was an excellent start to the competition season for Martin. Johnnie Brown was runner up with a similar 67, but gracefully bowed the knee to the Club Captain on countback.

David Leeman and Gary Baird each returned nett 66 scores in the 12-18 handicap category and had to be separated in countback for the prizes.

Brian Liddy returned a nett 67 to win Category 3. But he could so easily have been collecting the April Medal had he not taken seven shots to finish the par 4 18 th hole! Runner up in the category was Tom Donnelly on nett 68.

Philip Kelly (2) returned the Best Gross Score – 70 on the day.
