AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

IT may have been a season-long effort, but Norman Mallon eventually saw his name in lights after winning the final Saturday club stroke qualifier at County Armagh.

And it was achieved in impressive fashion – as he returned a nett 63, one shot better than the remainder of the considerable field.

Patrick Hicks (13) was runner up with a nett 64 – an unfortunate triple bogey at the 17 th hole costing him dearly, and especially after a three-over par front nine holes.

Kyle Wilson (8) led home the low handicappers with his one-under par back nine holes - including birdies at the 12th, 15 th and 17 th - and nett 65 winning Category 1. His namesake Alan Wilson (12) was runner up with a nett 67.

In Category 2, the last man out in the competition, Gary Livingstone (15), secured first prize returning a nett 67, with Colin Gamble (14) – despite recording a birdie at the 18 th hole - losing out in countback after returning a similar nett 67.

David Spratt (19) won Category 3 with a nett 66 and Gerard Cullen(21) two shots adrift on nett 68, claimed the runner's up prize.

Neill Cromwell returned the best gross score on the day – gross 72.
