GARY Jordan grabbed the early June Open Stableford prize at County Armaghwith 42 points. But will surely have been more than surprised with his win after failing to score at both the 8th and 17 th holes.

21 points and 20 points front and back nines respectively, saw Gary take the honours in the King Bros Quarry sponsored competition ahead of John Morgan on 41 points.

Five handicapper Mark Loughran slipped up at the 18 th where he failed to score and finished with 39 points to take third prize – and that after recording four birdies – at the 6 th , 8 th , 9 th and 10 th holes.

Gareth Frizell suffered the same misery at the 18 th and finished with 38 points to claim fourth place, winning on the back nine from Francis Grimley who also registered 38 points. But Grimley's back nine was better than that of Sean Dougan also on 38 points and taking sixth. Conor Woods completed the prize list with 37points taking 7 th .

Neil Cromwell, playing off 1, and Andrew Millar off 2, claimed the Best Gross prizes.
