AN HISTORIC CLUB WITH A MAGNIFICENT GEORGIAN PARKLAND SETTING SINCE 1893

The July Medal Stroke competition at Co Armagh Golf Club on Thursday 27 July was generously sponsored by Specsavers.

  Unfortunately the sponsor was unable to attend and the prizes were presented by Gail Steed on his behalf.

The continuing difficulty of the course was reflected in the scores.  The winner with nett 67 was Anne McDonald, three shots clear of Mary Black’s nett 70.  The gross prize was won by Collete McSorley with gross 84.  Valerie Gordon was third with nett 71.

The category winners were:

Cat A    Paula McCrory                nett 74

Cat B    Geraldine Rafferty          nett 73

Cat C    Karen Edgar (beating

             Lorraine Megaw on c/b) nett 77

Cat D    Anne Attwell                   nett 79

Aoife Lennon won the front 9 with nett 34 beating Bernie Rice on the countback and Tara Grimley won the back 9 with nett 37 beating Teresa McVeigh on the countback.

The 9 hole competition which was won by Anne Cairns with a fantastic 23 pts.  Margaret Marjoram was second with 15 pts, beating Maggie Clarke on the countback.

There were birdies at the 2nd for Mary Black, 8th for Lady Captain Lily McMullan, 12th for Colette McSorley and the 15th for Denise Murphy.

Twos were recorded by Anne McDonald at the 7th, Gail Steed at the 9th and Lady Vice Captain Ellen Brady at the 18th.

Anne extended best wishes to Lady Captain Lily for her Lady Captain’s Day on 29 July.
